People Were Afraid Someone Abandoned This Dog, Turns Out He Is One Loyal Pooch

Every day, as people walked by the local Mega shopping center in the Russian city of Kaliningrad they thought that a blue-eyed husky calmly laying in the same spot was another sad story of an abandoned dog. Turns out this was not the case—this Russian Hachiko was actually waiting for his owner to finish work every day. In his signature clean blue sweater, this good boy was only doing what good boys do, being loyal to his owner Svetlana and waiting for her 8-hour work day to end so the two of them could go back home together.

The story went viral in Russia after the unusual sight was posted on the local media portal klops.ru. Journalists found how owner only to realise that he was not abandoned.

In order to avoid causing concern in people, Svetlana wrote a note “This dog is not abandoned!!! He’s waiting for his owner to get off work!” In her note she also explained that the dog was not cold or hungry and that waiting for her was actually a part of his normal daily routine.

Svetlana’s best friend was not on his best behaviour when left alone at home. According to her neighbours, he would howl all day long. The only solution left, so as not to lose her rented communal apartment, was to take her dog everywhere with her. Every morning he wakes to the sound of alarm and is the first to come to the door, anxious for another adventure together. During her workday, Svetlana checks on him every hour, goes for a quick walk with and, of course, they spend her lunch break together.

Svetlana doesn’t give out her pet’s name so that strangers won’t take him away.

He was this needy even as a puppy and Svetlana does everything to make him feel safe, loved and comfortable. She was over the moon when she heard that she could become his new fur mommy, and the two have been inseparable ever since.

Recently, “husky in a blue sweater” got an Instagram account to steal the hearts of dog lovers around the world and share his daily adventures. “I don’t count him as a dog⁠. He’s my friend, my son. We have the same zodiac sign, both Capricorns. I understand him perfectly, and he understands me too,” Svetlana told klops.ru.
This beautifully loyal husky is a part of an amazing group of loyal dogs such as the Greek version of Hachiko who refused to leave his owner’s car crash site for 18 months, a dog in Brazil who ran after an ambulance carrying his owner, and later waited for four months at the hospital’s entrance after he died, or beautiful Xiongxiong, who waits outside a station every day for his owner to come home from work. Yet another proof that we do not deserve dogs.
