Having a birthmark can often be unpleasent, but this golden retriever with rare genetic mutation is helping and warming hearts for many, many folks with birthmarks all around the globe so they can embrace themselves as they are.
His name is Enzo Viola and he’s adorable. Enzo is an English cream retriever with an very unusual birthmark on his face.
Enzo lives in Texas with Castro family, Eli, Tracy, Ella (19), and Clarissa (15). And, yes, he is very popular. Enzo has 187,000 followers on Instagram.

Eli told Insider that Enzo was the only one in his litter with the mark.
“The splotch is random — it’s not a hereditary trait, so Enzo was the only one from his litter with any black fur, and it’s no more likely that his relatives will have a splotch than it is for any golden.
“It’s called a cellular somatic mutation — totally harmless, just a little genetic blip that flips from light to dark fur.
“We’ve met other golden puppers online with bits of black fur — some on their muzzle like Enzo but also ears and feet.”
