“I have been baking since I was a little girl. My parents are great cooks, but they didn’t bake, so that fell to me. I loved trying out delicious recipes and making them look pretty. I have been a visual artist my whole life and work in many media. But I didn’t think about putting the two things together until a trip to London over 20 years ago. I visited Harris’s famous food hall and fell in love with the intricately designed lace confections. I soon began to teach myself how to make sugar flowers from whatever books I could get my hands on—there weren’t many back then! Over the years, I’ve continued to challenge myself to make more daring and elaborate designs. The bigger the challenge, the better!” the artist told
