Grey’s Anatomy: Executive Producer Revealed When We’re Getting Some Clarity On Alex’s Sudden Exit From The Show
The executive producer of Grey’s Anatomy Kristina Vernoff broke her silence on Justin Chambers’ sudden exit from the show and how the whole situation will be explained to the fans.
She described the whole process of him leaving the show as “a very careful threading of a needle, where we are giving a little bit of information and pain to Jo.”
She explained in an interview to Variety: “We’re, episode by episode, illuminating the story of where Alex is. And it takes us quite a few more episodes to get there and to give the audience clarity.”
The last time Alex was seen in an episode was in November 2019 during which he left town to take care of his mother. That was his final appearance on the show, which fans found out only after it was actually aired.
Jo’s character hinted in last week’s episode (February 13) that Alex had stopped answering her calls and isn’t going to come back to Seattle.
Justin Chambers,49, already announced back in January that he was going to leave the show, saying: “There’s no good time to say goodbye to a show and character that’s defined so much of my life for the past 15 years. For some time now, however, I have hoped to diversify my acting roles and career choices. And, as I turn 50 and am blessed with my remarkable, supportive wife and five wonderful children, now is that time.”
It’s so sad to see Alex leave. A character that we first hated, and then loved for such a long time. But we sure wish him only the best in the future.
