Trevor Noah Speaks Publicly About The Effect Coronavirus Is Having On The Black Community

U.S. becomes the new epicentre of the coronavirus pandemic, as the deadly virus spreads from China and Europe.
Trevor Noah, host of the The Daily Show, is beeing locked in self-isolation, like most of us.
Covid-19 pandemic in U.S. has caused havoc in black communities, so Noah has the message.
“When you look at the systemic social and economic factors facing black people in America, it makes complete sense,” Noah explains. “You see overall, black people are less likely to have health insurance, black people are more likely to have pre-existing conditions like asthma and diabetes, and those things make coronavirus more lethal.”
Noah spends the rest of the video breaking down other factors in play, like the higher number of black people in service jobs in America, and racism in the healthcare system. Noah had also talked to Bad Feminist author Roxane Gay on the subject in another video, in which she discussed how the pandemic has made plain these inequalities experienced by black people in America.
“Look, the unfortunate truth is that the black community is being slammed by coronavirus now,” Noah concludes in the above video. “But in a way, it’s not because there’s anything special about coronavirus; it’s because any widespread crisis in America is bound to hit the most vulnerable and disadvantaged groups the hardest.”
