Adam Levine of Maroon 5 Issued Apologises For ‘Unprofessional’ Performance At Festival

Adam Levine has apologised for his ‘unprofessional’ performance at a festival in Chile the other day.

On Thursday night (27 February), Levine and his band were booked to perform at the Viña del Mar festival, a 15,000 person music event.

However, fans were left disappointed and – frankly – a bit p***ed off by Levine’s antics and his negative attitude, which he later attributed to frustration due to sound issues.

Levine wrote on his personal Instagram account after the event, which was also broadcast on Chilean television, and said: “I’m so excited and passionate about concerts, and about being my best and the band being our best and being our best for you guys.

“There were some things holding me back sonically last night, and I let them get to me, and it impacted how I was behaving onstage which was unprofessional, and I apologize for that.”
The official line given in a statement to USA Today, one of the representatives for Levine and the rest of the band told them that the lead singer was having trouble with his in-ear monitors, as well as the sound that he could hear back on stage. That unfortunately let him to seem a bit negative and have a fairly poor attitude throughout, much to the disappointment of the thousands who had shown up to see the act.

Levine continued: “I struggled a lot and sometimes it’s really hard for me to mask the struggle, and for that I did let you guys down, and I apologize.

“Last night wasn’t our best and for that all I can say is I’m really sorry.”

Well, this apology comes after fans took to social media to vent their frustration at the singer – who was also allegedly late for the set, although the band’s rep denied this – with one person writing: “His attitude towards the fans that paid for a ticket was disrespectful.”

The full statement read: “Prior to their arrival in Chile, Maroon 5 was informed by their representatives about civil unrest in the country and an incident with Ricky Martin on route to the festival grounds from his hotel.

“Despite this, the band insisted on going ahead and performing the show for their fans. As a result, Live Nation, the Viña del Mar Festival, and Maroon 5 made arrangements for additional private security and the welcome help of the Chilean Federal Police, PDI, as Maroon 5 wanted to perform for their Chilean fans in this time of uncertainty.”

“Maroon 5 took the stage on schedule and on time last night. They performed 70 minutes of their greatest hits to great acclaim.

“Unfortunately, during the performance, the band encountered numerous technical difficulties throughout the show, including monitor issues and with both of Adam Levine’s in ears.

“It created a very difficult situation for the band to deliver their normal show. The band loves their Chilean fans.

“Maroon 5 has now moved on to Santiago de Chile for their headline show at Estadio Bicentenario de la Florida where they will play for 30,000 people, and then on to perform an additional 7 dates throughout South America. Maroon 5 thanks their fans in the country of Chile.”
