Caroline Flack Allegedly “Wanted To Confess To Assaulting Lewis Burton”
Caroline Flack allegedly “wanted to plead guilty” to assaulting boyfriend Lewis Burton.
She was accused of assaulting him by striking him on the head with a lamp as he slept, on the morning of December 12 last year.
Caroline denied the claims, as did Lewis.
A pre-Christmas court hearing heard prosecutors claim police officers had arrived at a scene “like a horror movie.”
Now reports claim that she wanted to confess so that she could “get on with her life”.
Caroline took her own life in February this year – three weeks before the date the Crown Prosecution Service set for her trial.
Friends of Caroline told Daily Star Online that she “desperately wanted to plead guilty”, because she “thought it would mean she could move on with her life”.
The friends claimed that she wanted “the whole episode to go away”, continuing: “You can’t stop thinking that if she had pleaded guilty, she would be alive today.”
The sources also claimed that Caroline couldn’t bear the thought of police body cam footage, reportedly showing her covered in blood, being played in court.
“She said she would rather die than it publicly come out in court,” the pals continued, “but we didn’t realise she actually meant it.”
The former Chief Prosecutor for north London, where the alleged assault took place, recently insisted he had “no regrets” over pressing charges against Caroline.
Ed Beltrami said: “You’ve got to do what you think is right. You cannot do what you think is popular.”
Caroline’s mum Chris hit back at the comments: “My daughter was unable to defend herself during her life and is unable to do so now.
“Shame on you.”
Lewis, meanwhile, has been open about his grief, previously penning: “It’s already been a month I love and miss you so much, I never thought that one day I will never be able to see or speak to you again.
