Green Retriever? Rio Had A Litter Of Puppies, But One Of Them Completely Stands Out!

Mama Rio recently had a litter of adorable little puppies. But among the babies one definitely stood out. It was green! And not just a little bit green, completely full on green!
When Rio gave birth to a litter of nine golden retriever puppies her owner Louise Sutherland was surprised to find one puppy came out sporting an unmistakable shade of green.
“It was all hands on deck, but then as the puppies started to arrive, we noticed that one of the puppies had green fur! We couldn’t believe it.” she told the Daily Mail adding that she named the puppy Forest.
However, luckily Forest’s unusual color has already faded a lot.
Here’s little Forest a week after birth:
But how on earth does this happen?!
Well, according to scientists this phenomenon is VERY rare and it happens when light-colored puppies come in contact with biliverdin, a green pigment found in bile, the same pigment you see when bruises turn green. It dyes their fur in the womb, but the color does fade over time.
