Recently a picture of a precious little golden retriever went viral on Reddit. The picture was posted with the caption:
“Beaux is a pure bred Golden Retriever. He was not bred to have dwarfism, nor is he just a runt. He was born in a perfectly healthy litter. He had his first vet check up last night and he is perfectly healthy himself! Just a case of dwarfism leading to underdeveloped teeth and short femurs.”
The dwarfism that dogs get is the same as achondroplasia (most commonly recognizable form of dwarfism) in humans. Animals with achondroplasia have typically sized heads and torsos with shorter limbs. So this dog will be short but a typical golden length.
We are happy to hear that Beaux is completely healthy and living his best life!
