A Bold And Changing Move: Scotland Makes History As First Country To Make Sanitary Products Free!

Scotland has made a bold and changing decision that will improve the lives of millions of women! This country has now decided that sanitary products will be FREE for ALL WOMEN.
One issue that is rarely discussed is period poverty. According to a recent study conducted in the UK 15% of girls have struggled to afford sanitary items and 19% have changed to a less suitable product due to cost.
Another issue almost 74% of 14 to 21-year-old girls are facing is feeling embarrassed buying period products.
It is because of those reasons and many many more why Scottish parliament approved plans to make sanitary products freely available to all women.
The plan is to make tampons and sanitary pads available at designated public places such as community centers, youth clubs and pharmacies, at an estimated annual cost of $31.2 million dollars.
This Bill passed through its first stage with 112 votes in favor, none against and one abstention. It now moves to the second stage, where members of the devolved Scottish parliament can propose amendments.
If and when this decision is approves it will be a landmark event in the movement to make menstrual hygiene a basic human right.
This is definitely a choice that more countries should make.
